In 2002, I purchased a home at the entrance of my driveway was only dirt. As it became a problem with constant dust and water puddles. So I eliminated that by adding a $16,000 flagstone driveway entrance. And the city approved by signing off my permit. Then 6 months later I received a letter informing me I had a year to remove my new driveway and the existing wall or Caltrans would demo them so they could restructure the bridge. Caltrans claimed 18' of my property including the neighbor next door.I am a single lady that lives alone with my 3 large dogs. I lost my driveway, wall, security gate and lights, landscaping, and 18' of my property with no accommodation. Now I have dirt, lots of debris, construction materials,14 large sand containers, cement dividers, bulldozer, heavy equipment for my view in front of my home now. Also 4 people had slipped and fall from the unleveled dirt piles and rocks in front of my home. I had to pay out of my own pocket everything so I could be safe again and have my dogs run again with a sense of security back. What is the answer, do I have any rights. If I was informed when I bought the property, that this was a project that was going to destroy the value of my home. I would have never threw $16,000 on a driveway to see it get demolition after 6Months .Please Any Advice will be greatly appreciative. Thank You |
