We are not geographical farmers in Real Estate and embrace new technology and the assistance of our many blogs and internet service platforms to make our introductions and get our clients what they want from any one of the Four Boards of Realtors where we are full members.
The trick is trying to remember all of those different access portals and user information for each of those four different Multiple Listing Databases and keeping the different Board’s rules straight for the Real Estate Listings we Input.
I was with a group of friends and the subject came up about being bothered while at home by an unsolicited knock on the door. When opening up the door – a cherry and happy person is standing there asking you questions about your home, neighborhood, or wanting to give you “unsolicited" information about what is going on down your street or wanting you to know they are the local “neighborhood expert. Our conversation, even though Real Estate Agent focused, was not entirely about Agents (I am an easy target, due to these men and women knowing me in my other life), it also was about the “inner city kids with large boxes program. Where they are attempting to get you to purchase some shower curtains, or something else that was purchased used from a garage sale in order to get to go to some “amusement park.
I am all about giving and so was the group. However, it was also brought up to have the City of Santa Clarita compose an Local Ordinance that is enforceable by LA County Municipal Code that would make Door to Door solicitation citable on an “greenie, which is LAPD slang for a traffic ticket.
It was opined by the group that this would solve the issue of walking out to your front porch and seeing a multitude of flyers, pamphlets, business cards, and magazines. For each one of those would be able to sought by local law enforcement and cited accordingly. Then the conversation went from the Door to Door solicitor to the Local Law Enforcement having better things to do. In short order, Paris and I, with our friends, became distracted and started in on another subject.
But what do you think? Is it even the place for a Real Estate Agent to mention the City of Santa Clarita Starting a local ordinance that prohibits door to door solicitation or information relaying? It is not our way of finding new clients, but I know it is used by many as a means to an end.
Federal Do Not Mail List? Here is another item that I had read about recently, this would limit your “junk mail in a huge way. Just like each and every telemarketing call a Real Estate Agent makes, that did not have its nexus as your contact or call, should be checked against the Federal Do not Call List. I am not sure of anyone practices this, like the E-mail Spam act, but it is worth mentioning.
As always, feedback and good conversation is much appreciated. –CONNOR with HONOR
