I am sure it has happened to you and I know it has happened to me - Angry drivers that get upset purely for no apparent reason. It could be that we as drivers are fallible human beings and make mistakes from time to time. The “event could have taken place miles ago – It could be that we did not even take notice at that time.
I used to roll up on "motorist" disputes in progress all of the time in the past before this life and most of the incidents had something in common - Two Alpha type personalities that woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Most were alone and did not have any "voice of reason" anywhere nearby to let them know that what they are about to embark on could cause them problems.
I am not sure if getting upset to the point of following the other person for violating your "right of way", and honking and using your middle finger to wave in disgust, it is the best way to handle the situation.
There are people that on the edge much more than you. There people driving out there on our city streets that are armed. There are people driving out there dressed in suits that just committed a home invasion robbery that turned to homicide. Talk about a person on the edge. Now they are in a hurry and cut you off. You pursue them in a vengeful retort - This story might not have a happy ending. To be sure you need to take a deep breath and be thankful, what you believe in, that you probably will never see that person again.
Maybe it is not "giving in" and letting someone take advantage of you, maybe it is playing it forward. Just maybe that person just got the word he or someone close to him has six months to live, six weeks, six days???
You never know, I understand there are predators out there who have as their sole mission in life, to take from those us that do not put up a fight. I am not saying not to fight, just pick your battles wisely. If someone is attacking my family or someone on the street as a predator - You can be sure that I would not waste a moment in providing assistance, something’s you cannot purge with a modification in career.
However, in the equation of the motorist that cuts me off and nearly causes me to crash and even throws me the salutation out of their window with their middle finger, there are just too many unknowns. Questions I don't have the answer to and parts of that "equation" I cannot control. How much weaponry can you fit in your car???
What are the chances - It only takes once. So next time you are a victim of another motorist being an "idiot". Maybe you can thank whatever you believe in for the reaction time that was necessary to avoid the collision. If you collide, being thankful for being able to walk away, etc...
