I am actually all for anyting that helps alert me to EMERGENCY vehicles. The way they make cars these days, it is hard to hear them until they are right next to you. If it helps get the cars over faster so they can get to people in need.....then let them....it might be you that they are trying to get to.
How do you feel if for example as a homeowner living on McBean just after Valencia Blvd. going towards the Hospital, if you had to hear these new types of sirens or feel them through the walls of your home. Would this be bothersome?
I know that on that stretch of road, Emergency vehicles frequently pass by with sirens blaring even in the wee hours of the morning.

These are some things to think about when you are looking for a place to live. Do you want to be closer to a hospital in case you need it...then think about all that which comes with it..,. Ambulances and emergency vehicles. Would you think about these things when moving closer to a airport. unfortunatley there is always some bad that come with a convenience. If you never need the service then yes it could become irritating. It is not the communitys fault. For me, I would never expect piece and quiet if I lived near a hospital, police station, fire station.
For me, they make cars so quiet now to reduce road noise that it is hard to hear emergency vehicles. I have been in the need of these vehicles and if it helps them get to the person in need faster by alerting people to get over than
I am all for it, no matter who is in need of them. Time is very critical on some of these calls.
Thank you Yolanda!! Your comments are appreciated. Nice to know someone is actually reading our blogs.
If the "booming" sirens are the only way to get the attention of drivers, it's what we have to do. Is it the best way? I wouldn't know.
According to Yolanda, if you buy near a hospital, you should know to expect to hear sirens, so be an informed buyer. I agree. You don't usually think it all the way through though. We tried to do exactly that and bought far from a hospital, airport, main road, fire station etc. Safe from the noise/sirens, right? Wrong. We are very close to Friendly Valley Retirement Village. Sadly, emergency vehicles have to go in there regularly, with the sirens blaring. We never thought of that possibility when we bought our home.
I have a bigger problem with sirens promting dogs to HOWL!! If the booms are a different "frequency" so the dogs won't howl, I'm all for it!!!
