Problem with Time Warner

I am wondering if anyone else has been having the same problem with their cable boxes as we are.
They are turning off at different times in the middle of the night. Unless we notice or remember to turn them back on, our scheduled DVR shows won't record.
Time Warner wants to send someone out to look at the boxes. Our boxes range from 3 years old to 2 months old so I would be surprised if it is the boxes themselves instead of the service. Anyone have any ideas?

I too am having the same problem. It seem to be happening at the same time every morning for the past 5-6 days. At my home the cable turns off at 5:15am and requires me to turn it on manually and wait while it reboots.

Perhaps this is a scheme to get us to up grade.....

Just a thought.....I believe that the boxes themselves can be programmed to change channels and turn off (like a sleep timer). It's weird that it is doing it all of a sudden, but maybe somehow without even knowing it you programmed it to do this while trying to program something else......or not.

We had the same problem with Time Warner, after many months of frustration and on going drama, we switched to Direct TV.

Good Luck

You know you can just bring your cable box into the TWC store and ask for a new one. Ive done this a couple of times and takes only the time to drive to the office. There are no charges. The only negative is that you will lose whatever you have saved on your current DVR.

Otherwise, you can schedule a tech to come out but it will take weeks to get an appointment and then you have to stay home half a day for the window period.

So try going to the TWC store.

It's too bad we don't have a "Tell it to the Signal" forum. As nice as this website looks, it is truly lacking without TITTS. I am a paid paper subscriber so for me, there is no interest in going ...
