We have gotten several questions and comments today on The Signal print edition's new look. The reason for the change is that we are updating our computer systems and switching from some very out-dated Macintosh computers to brand new Dell PCs. Because of this huge change, we found that we had to convert a lot of our technology and so we felt that it was a good time to "update" our look. Signal Editor Lila Littlejohn and News Editor Rob Bignell worked for the last several weeks coming up with a new design that I think our readers will find very pleasing. Special kudos to Rob for the many extra hours he spent on this project. There will be some tweaking of the design over the next few days as we make sure that all the changes work on our presses.
We also have begun listing the names of our editorial board now on our Opinion page. Several readers have asked us what the "editorial board" actually is. Well the answer to that question is very simple: The editorial board is made up of the publisher, the editor, the city editor, and the online editor. All of us together decide the opinion of this newspaper in its "editorials" or political endorsements, both online and in print.
These print design changes, along with the recent redesign of our web page and print magazines, are part of our continuing effort to better meet the news, information, and advertisinig needs of our growing Santa Clarita Valley.
Stay tuned to The Signal. More additions are coming...
