If you've seen any of my blogging, you probably know by now that I am a conservative. I am also really into conservation and taking care of the planet....HMMMM, all those liberals who love to claim that Republicans don't care about the environment.

We live in the desert here in the Los Angeles area so I challenge all of you to start conserving water. Drought conditions and lack of water from the Owen's Valley, the depletion of the Colorado River and just being plain responsible. When I take a shower, I do like most...rinse, lather and rinse. During the summer when I am lathering, I turn off the water. I figure that I am saving about 5 gallons a day that way. Just think, if everyone in L.A. county did that, we would save about 25 million gallons a day (that is assuming 5 million people out of 15 million take a shower daily). Imagine if everyone in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura, San Diego, Sacramento, Alameda, Marin, San Mateo, Contra Costa counties, etc. did this. There would be no problem with enough water in this state.

I'm a liberal and I love to claim that Republican Richard Nixon did care about the environment. When all is said and done, it always comes down to this: "Nixon's the One!"

Yeah,yeah.

After the article in today's Signal about the car washing and the mandatory water restrictions, don't say I didn't tell you so. We need to do this now. If we do not conserve water and L.A. becomes very restrictive with water, you will see businesses leave, jobs leave and home prices decline.

stephenwinkler commented on Thursday, Jun 26, 2008 at 03:45 AM

We need to do this now by drinking beer instead of water.

I was really trying to serious about a serious issue, what are you, 10 years old?

stephenwinkler commented on Saturday, Aug 02, 2008 at 21:04 PM

The great majority of conservatives have a brain capacity of a ten year old. I'm not a conservative. If you are a conservative, then you are probabily ten years old in mental ability.

stephenwinkler:

What is your problem? Oh yeah, I forgot, liberals make decisions based on emotion...conservatives make decisions based on rationale, logic, and fact. BTW you misspelled probably and it would be "the brain capacity" not "a brain capacity". When you want to blog about how superior you are, you had better prove it. Another liberal thing, they want to preach tolerance....unless you disagree with them.

stephenwinkler commented on Thursday, Aug 07, 2008 at 01:54 AM

My problem is that you either forget your facts or do not have them and then you blog something that comes out of a sixth grader. For example, Carter is one of our ten greatest presidents, but you called him the worst.

Number two, I'm better than you! I'm Princeton educated! I'm Ivy League!

Number three, there is no reason to disagree with me. Just accept my teaching and show some appreciation. I never receive a "thank you."

lachawkfan commented on Thursday, Aug 07, 2008 at 20:04 PM

You are better then me and you know it, why do you need a thank you? Ivy League explains the limousine liberal in you.

stephenwinkler commented on Saturday, Aug 09, 2008 at 03:02 AM

I do not need a thank you. I want a thank you to make me feel good and appreciated.

Incidentally, unlike some other liberals, I'm proud to be a liberal.

However, by liberal I mean "God Bless America," not God D------- America. As a liberal, I do not believe that America is a mean country. I do not believe that we should negotiate with our enemies without preconditions. I believe in a national health care system that covers all, not part of our population. I believe that we need a break this summer from the tax on gasoline, as Senators Clinton and McCain have suggested. I do not condemn people that have guns and religion and I do not believe that if you do, then you are one angry and bitter person. I believe that children are a gift, not a punishment from God. I believe in the liberalism of the Democratic Leadership Council, the Blue Dog Democrats, and Senator Joe Lieberman.

You on the other hand, my dear lachawkfan, take all of the liberals and put them in all one obamabasket. By that, you suggest that all liberals dislike wearing an American flag pin on their lapels or that all liberals dislike the flag salute. It is really naive on your part to think and believe that all liberals have terrorists as their friends, even after they tried to blow up our Capitol, the Pentagon, and the New York City Police Department. I would even go further than naive and suggest that it is rude of you to suggest that we are all willing members of the Obamanation of America.

lachawkfan commented on Saturday, Aug 09, 2008 at 07:15 AM

Yeah, and a liberal judge just gave Osama bin Laden's driver a pass to get out of prison in 5 months. Two-thirds of the people that we let out of Guantanamo have found their way back to the battlefield to kill our soldiers....that was because the liberals wanted our enemies treated like regular criminals.

I don't always agree with Senator Lieberman, but I do respect him, unlike you. You love Hillary. During an economic boom, she happened to do nothing to help the State of New York. Albany and Rochester and Buffalo have some of the worst economies around even after she promised to help them....like I said, even during an economic boom.

BTW..this particular blog, was just about all of us being responsible and to save water, because we live in the desert, before the government mandates it.

cowboydad commented on Saturday, Aug 09, 2008 at 14:41 PM

How about we just all shower with a loved one? That should save some water, unless of course you get distracted!!!

stephenwinkler commented on Saturday, Aug 09, 2008 at 18:56 PM

lachawkfan: a far left judge gave Osama bin Laden's driver a pass to get out of prison. You are still confused about the difference between the far left and the liberals.

To me, our enemies are criminals. To the rest of the world, the United States should be the beacon light of moral leadership, as President Woodrow Wilson suggested. That means, that everyone deserves his or her date in court. Even Jesus Christ received that from the Romans, who were considered to be a tyranny. I thought that we were better than the Romans. Incidentally, in that connection, I would execute the criminals, not release them, as Governor Pilate did with Christ.

If Senator Clinton did nothing to help the State of New York, then she would not have been re-elected by a landslide. Remember, she is a federal legislator, who must lobby with other legislators to get things done. She is not the governor. However, to the citizens of the State of New York, she has done plenty. Not only has she won re-election to the United States Senate, she won the New York presidential primary.

Incidentally, I know how you feel about your blog about saving water being turned around into something else. For example, I try to execute the lesson plan, then one of my kids ask me a question about Obama and McCain. I should not answer the question, because it is not part of the teacher's lesson plan. However, sometimes it is too tempting to resist, and before you know it, we are talking about the presidents of the United States, instead of science or math, or whatever the lesson plan is about.

However, after you insulted me by calling me ten years on your July 27th blog, I returned the insult, and from then on, the blog went crazy. Too bad you lack a sensse of humor; you should have laughed at my joke and let it go at that. After all, a joke a day, keeps the gloom away.

Incidentally, after listening to the conservatives on the one side, like yourself, and the far left on the other side, I feel pretty sad about the future of the United States.
