For the five-plus years I've been at The Signal, it has been our hope to provide you the best sports coverage. For the most part, I think we do that. We could always do better. But from time to time, some of our readers have issues with our coverage. I thought I'd take the opportunity now to let you understand where we are coming from so you can better understand our coverage. Currently, we have three reporters myself, Andrew Barlam and Amanda Branam. That's it. We carry the load. It is our responsibility to cover seven high schools, two colleges, athletes who've moved on to the next level, youth sports and community sports. We also do design and layout of the paper, write photo captions and headlines basically do everything but sweep the floors. We can't be everywhere at once so honestly we are selective. We want to give our readers the best stories possible. That's why many times we cover one team more than another, because that team may be more successful. There is no bias. To be honest with you, I'm a fan of pro sports and have never been a "fan" of Canyon, Valencia, Hart, West Ranch, Saugus or Golden Valley. I appreciate them. I don't root for them. That would be irresponsible. In the future, we hope to provide you better stories. We also hope to use this avenue the new Signal Web site to bring you other exciting things. Stay tuned and thanks for reading.
